Dec 1, 2009 Had very little experience with the NEW Vaquero#39;s, but the original Vaqueros were redesigned to operate more like the Colts and Cowboy designs with a free spin cylinder, and a slimmer frame like the Colt and became the NEW Model Vaquero. Therefore it was my understanding that Ruger does not rate it at Plus P level. The result was the current New Model transfer bar design. There is no #x27;safety notch#x27; and the mechanism has changed so that there is no need for a half cock loading position. Opening the loading gate frees the cylinder to rotate. However as far as safety is concerned, there is no safety issue with any New Model Ruger Single Action revolver.

First you would have to modify the existing pawl to convert it to quot;free spinquot;. Then you would have to totally strip the gun down and drill a 2-step hole in the bottom of the recoil shield... directly under the firing pin. The rear step of the hole would have to be threaded with a tap.
